ABOUT

“A logo with an open book in the center, surrounded by a yellow circle with ‘Project Literacy’ written around it, used for branding literacy initiatives.”

OUR HISTORY

Project Literacy owes its existence to a group of dedicated women who formed the Danville Reading Center in the mid-1960’s. Among these women was Nancy Jiranek, who served as the Center’s Executive Director until 1986 when she became the sole organizer and the facilitator for Project Literacy.

For nearly 40 years, Project Literacy has helped hundreds of Danville area adults learn to read and improve their literacy skills.
